Woman seriously hurt after slamming into tractor-trailer on I-287 shoulder

The crash took place on the southbound shoulder in Mahwah on Thursday morning

A woman was seriously injured when her car struck the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 in Bergen County on Thursday morning.

The crash took place on southbound near milepost 65 in Mahwah at around 6:40 a.m., State Police said.

She was flown to Hackensack University Medical Center, according to Trooper Alejandro Goez. Her age and hometown were not available. There were no passengers in her vehicle and the driver of the truck was not hurt. 

The right lane remains closed as of 10 a.m., as State Police investigate the cause of the crash.
