UPDATE: Christmas Lights Fire Destroys Secor Farms’ Family Home

MAHWAH, N.J. – No injuries were reported in a Saturday night electrical fire that roared through the home of the popular family that owns Secor Farms in Mahwah.

The blaze began “Either in an extension cord or timer connected to outdoor Christmas lights” on the porch and ripped through Darryl and Jackie Secor’s home on Airmount Avenue – right next to their farm – just as night began to fall, Police James N. Batelli said.

Darryl Secor discovered the fire, notified authorities and tried to put it out, sustaining minor burns to his hands and his face, for which he was treated at the scene, the chief said.

All five Mahwah fire companies responded to the blaze, and were joined by their colleagues from Ramsey, Wyckoff and Tallman, NY. The fire was extinguished in just under a half-hour, Batelli said.
