Ramsey PD: Car Seized, DWI Mahwah Driver Returns to HQ, Charged Again

RAMSEY, N.J. – A 71-year-old Mahwah motorist released on DWI charges was re-arrested when he returned to headquarters in another vehicle looking for his car, Ramsey police said.

Richard B. Haskell initially registered a.21 blood-alcohol level – nearly three times the legal limit – after officers responding to a call at 7:42 a.m. Saturday found him in his car parked at Suraci’s Pond on Woodland Avenue, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.

Haskell then showed up at headquarters at 12:21 p.m. in a 2009 Mercury wagon, looking for his car, Gurney said.

Haskell is due to answer the charges Oct. 24 in Municipal Court.
