Debate continues over controversial expansion of eruv in North Jersey town

UPPER SADDLE RIVER – An amended complaint was filed last week to keep a symbolic boundary in another North Jersey town, Upper Saddle River.

The amended claim adds more names to the suit, the mayor’s testimony regarding the eruv’s expansion and an updated timetable that takes into account that it has been two months since the expansion was first halted.

The eruv expansion has since been stalled, and with the passing weeks, is depriving families of the “Ability to fully and freely practice their religion on the Sabbath, constituting an irreparable injury,” the plaintiffs wrote in the suit.

In nearby Mahwah, the town has also been taken to court over its own eruv.
