ALLENDALE, N.J. – A scrape on her shin was the extent of injuries for a Mahwah mom who was grazed by a car as she crossed a busy Allendale intersection holding her 2-year-old son, authorities said.
The woman, 42, was in the crosswalk in front of a package goods store near where Park and West Allendale avenues meet when the incident occurred just after 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Police Chief George Scherb said.
The 66-year-old driver, also from Mahwah, received a summons for not yielding to a pedestrian, he said.
Another media report made the incident sound far worse than it actually was, a responder said.
