Refuse to Lose: Westwood girls soccer thrives in close games during strong start

“They wanted it on the back of their shirts and it has become way more than a motto to these girls; it’s a mentality. We’ve had a couple slow starts to games, as well as games in which we left our shooting boots on the bus, but our hard work has allowed for us to take the games back.”

The year kicked off with a six-day span where Westwood pulled down deep to win three one-goal games.

Rookie Ashley Downes has joined the fray on defense this year for Westwood and has been a consistent force on the back line from start to finish in games.
