MAHWAH, N.J. – An upstate New York couple came to court in Mahwah high and carrying more than 100 bags of heroin, authorities said Thursday.
Detective Michael Grassi noticed Jamie Rauch, 30, of Tuxedo, and Dillon McCarthy, 25, of LaGrange “Acting strangely after pulling into the parking lot of the Mahwah Municipal Building complex” in a 2003 Toyota early Tuesday evening, Police Chief James N. Batelli said.
The K-9 unit was summoned, and Remco “Positively indicated” the presence of drugs, leading to a search that turned up 107 bags of heroin and several hypodermic needles, Batelli said.
Rauch and McCarthy were charged with having the heroin and paraphernalia, as well as with being under the influence of drugs, he said.
