MAHWAH, N.J. – Mahwah firefighters lowered a colleague onto a stalled hotel elevator before dawn Sunday to rescue two trapped children, officials said.
Given the location of the elevator, which was stuck between floors, and the access to the shaft, firefighters decided to retrieve the youngsters from above after being called to the Sheraton Crossroads around 2 a.m. The firefighter secured both youngsters into harnesses to be raised, one by one, to safety.
Mahwah EMS checked both out and released them to their parents.
