Letter: Joyce Kilmer exhibit to open at Mahwah Museum

The opening of the Mahwah Museum’s first-ever Joyce Kilmer grand exhibit on Sept. 30, in collaboration with the Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah, is an historic cultural event that I highly recommend to not only the people of Mahwah but of the entire region.

In 2013, the Society’s founder located indisputable proof at Georgetown University that poet/soldier Alfred Joyce Kilmer wrote the immortal poem, “Trees,” in his Mahwah house on Feb. 2, 1913, settling a century-long controversy over precisely where and when the verse was born.

The Museum’s exhibit leaders, architect Tetsu Amagasu, and his wife, Linda, are deserving of exceptional praise for their artistic talents in assembling, with the Society providing extensive authenticated Kilmer research, an exhibit of extraordinary historical significance.

The writer is Founder and President of the Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah.
