Prize-winning filmmaker Anthony DiFranco to hold Q&A. MAHWAH, N.J. – Prize-winning documentary filmmaker Anthony DiFranco will be on hand for the screening of his film “My Grandma’s American Dream: From Italy to a New Life” on Monday, October 23 at Ramapo College of New Jersey.
“My Grandma’s American Dream,” a 43-minute documentary, deals with the experiences of the immigrants from southern and eastern Europe, and Italy in particular, who arrived by the millions in New York City in the 1900-1915 period, leaving more than 17 million descendants in their homeland.
DiFranco, a professor at Suffolk Community College is an award-winning filmmaker, has written, produced and directed several feature films, include prize-winning “The Garden of Redemption.” He also has published novels of Italian life and immigration in the early 20th century and non-fiction books about Italy.
Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top in the Best Regional Public Universities North category, Ramapo College of New Jersey is sometimes viewed as a private college.
