Bergen County Clerk, John S. Hogan, was in Mahwah on Thursday to promote his “Around the County” initiative. Clerk Hogan presented the Mayor and Council with a reproduction of some of the town’s historic documents. Articles of Incorporation, Certificates for Exempt Fire Fighters and Original Election Results were some of the many examples of the documented rich history of the towns in Bergen County. These significant historical documents have long been archived at the Office of the Bergen County Clerk. The “Around the County – Historic Pride” program is intended to promote community pride and historical awareness by highlighting some of Bergen County’s earliest historic documents. Throughout the year, he will present the poster board collages to the governing body of each municipality. An identical copy will also be displayed at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack.
